The term 'Aromatherapy' was first coined by the french Perfumer and Chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse in the 1920's to explain the apparent benefits of plants in treating human conditions, alleviating stress, treating medical conditions and the use topically on our bodies to treat skin problems. It was said that after he burnt his hand he plunged it into the first cold liquid he could find which happened to be pure Lavender oil, he was amazed when days later his hand had quickly healed, prompting his interest in healing botanicals.
Reference dates back to the Egyptians and beyond, so called healing plants have long been used for a wide range of medical problems and many myths have evolved to explain their effectiveness. Herbalists and their like were the forerunners of modern medicine and many of the synthetic pharmaceuticals we use today are based on their natural chemical components.
It is really no surprise that when we analyse these truths the plants themselves have evolved to protect themselves against predators, bacteria, viruses and insects that might otherwise shorten their life. We first discovered these plants, probably by trial and error and have largely forgotten their power in an age that prefers a pill or capsule to a piece of bark or flower.
Aromair have adopted this ancient technology into its ethos and product innovation, our experience is that they contain many healthy natural wonders that can improve our lives and help our planet at the same time.
